Free Device Repair Estimates & Mail-In Diagnostics
Start With a Free Soft Diagnosis
Not sure what’s wrong with your device? We’re happy to help you determine what may be going on.
At Trilex Fix offers a free soft diagnosis upon request. This is an initial evaluation based on the symptoms you provide and basic testing that does not require extensive disassembly or advanced troubleshooting.
The goal is simple: help you understand the likely problem and your repair options before additional work is performed.
A soft diagnosis can be helpful for problems such as:
- Device won’t power on
- Charging problems
- Broken or damaged ports
- Screen problems
- Overheating
- Game consoles that won’t start or boot
- Computer hardware problems
- Other common device failures
When Is a Diagnostic or Repair Attempt Fee Required?
Some problems cannot be accurately diagnosed without opening the device and performing more extensive testing.
If your device requires advanced troubleshooting, board-level diagnostics, microsoldering, component testing, or an actual repair attempt, a fee may apply.
These services require additional technician time, specialized equipment, and hands-on work. Repair attempt fees cover the work performed when we move beyond the initial evaluation and begin actively troubleshooting or repairing the device.
A repair attempt fee is not automatically charged simply because you mail your device to us.
If you request a free soft diagnosis first, we will begin with that initial evaluation. If additional paid work is recommended, we will explain what is needed and the applicable fee before proceeding whenever possible.
Free Soft Diagnosis vs. Advanced Diagnostics
| Service | Details |
|---|---|
| Free Soft Diagnosis | Initial evaluation based on reported symptoms and basic testing. Available upon request for mail-in orders. |
| Repair Estimate | Provided when the problem and required repair can be reasonably identified. |
| Advanced Diagnostics | May require a diagnostic fee when extensive testing or disassembly is necessary. |
| Repair Attempt | A repair attempt fee may apply when our technicians perform hands-on repair or component-level troubleshooting. |
Why Some Repairs Require More Extensive Testing
Modern electronics can have problems that aren’t visible from the outside. A device may have power but still fail to start, or a component on the circuit board may prevent an entire system from operating.
At Trilex Fix, we specialize in component-level electronics repair, microsoldering, and PCB troubleshooting. This allows us to investigate problems at the board level rather than automatically replacing the entire board.
Advanced troubleshooting may involve:
- Testing power rails and circuits
- Finding shorts and abnormal voltage conditions
- Testing individual components
- Microsoldering and component replacement
- Board-level fault isolation
- Disassembly and reassembly
These repairs can sometimes be successful when a standard parts-replacement repair is not an option. However, because board-level failures can vary significantly, we cannot guarantee that every repair attempt will result in a working device.
Clear Communication Before We Proceed
Our goal is to give you an honest assessment of your device and explain what we recommend.
If a repair can be estimated based on the information available, we’ll provide an estimate.
If additional diagnostic work or a repair attempt is necessary, we’ll explain why and let you know about any applicable fee before proceeding whenever possible.
If you are mailing your device to us and would like the free soft diagnosis first, simply let us know when you place your order.
